..comes Down. A true heavy metal “supergroup”, made from the finest members of the finest heavy metal bands. Phil Anselmo (Pantera, SuperJoint Ritual, Arson Anthem, Southern Isolation) on vocals, Pepper Keenan (Corrosion of Conformity) and Kirk Windstien (Crowbar, Kingdom of Sorrow) on guitars, the mighty Rex Brown (Pantera, Rebel Meets Rebel, Arms of the Sun) on bass and Jimmy Bower (Mystik Krewe of Clearlight, Eye Hate God, SuperJoint Ritual) on the drums. A band made in their down time between their current projects (hence the name Down), their first album picked up steam on through tape trading in the mid 90′s, and their second album solidified their presence in the heavy metal community. Their third album was made after the tragedy of DimeBag Darrells death (whom they were all friends of) and of hurricane Katrina, where all the band members had to evacuate their homes and leave their place of birth. This first song Stone The Crow got them fame, and the second song is the single off their newest album.

One of the best heavy metal bands to date. This is Pantera performing The Art of Shredding in Arlington Texas in the early 90′s when they’re all roughly 21-24 years of age. Stellar performances all around. The energy showcased in this video is what got their foot in the door, and a record deal, and helped them become the force they were before they disbanded in 2002. While the band members were at odds with each other at the time, they all state today that a reunion was not out of the question, if not for the tragic on-stage shooting of Dimebag Darrell (guitar god) December 8th 2004 (the same day John Lennon was gunned down). All we have now are the memories of quite possibly the greatest metal band ever and videos like this. Check it out

This is Bruce Cockburn performing one of his many instrumentals called Fox Glove. Truly a great piece, it reminds me of summer and cottages and everything thats great about being Canadian. The video quality isnt great, but the sound is perfect.

This is another member of the prestigious CandyRat record label. Absolutely outstanding. He has made a bass with custom “flippable” tuners that drop his tuning on his bass neck with the flip of a switch. This makes for one of the most unique bass songs I have ever heard. I can’t stop watching this video. Like I said before, Michael Manring for President.

This video has Grammy award winners for best new artist category performing their single “Country Fried”, as well as “God Bless America” with music legend Leon Russell. Outstanding performances by all members, including an excellent ho-down/ guitar solo by frontman Zac Brown towards the end.

Warren Haynes the Killer

Rock legends Daven Matthews and Warren Haynes performing a cover of Neil Young’s classic song Cortez the Killer from the Zuma album. Excellent slide guitar and vocals are the norm for Warren Haynes, who outshines Dave Matthews (which is not small feat in itself).

The mighty Zakk Wylde

2 of my favorite Zakk Wylde vids. A live version of his recorded song “in this river”, his unofficial tribute to the late and great Dimebag Darrell (its unofficial because the song was written before Dimebag was killed, it just seemed fitting to be a tribute song to his departed friend). It features a close to 7 minutes of blistering guitar solos, including a section where Zakk plays behind his head, then with his teeth.

Next up is Zakk Wylde while he’s still a youngster, playing an acoustic version of Machine Gun Man off his 1994 album Pride and Glory
